By demand of their many fans, the Scorpions will step onto the stage at the MEO Arena on the 10th March 2014. After the concert they held in the same venue in 2011, that sold out, the band from Hannover promise to surprise their Portuguese followers with this unique concert. The “Rock n'' Roll Forever” tour brings the Scorpions to Portugal, a country which they say has been among those to give the band their warmest welcomes throughout their 45-year career.
The Scorpions can look back on 100 million records sold, as well as countless accolades from the music industry, including the respected World Music Awards and the Echo Awards. In countries such as France and Portugal, the “Gold Ballads” compilation released in 1985 went to No. 1 in the sales charts. But in the end of the 80’s the band would sell over 14 million records with the single “Winds of Change”, taking the Scorpions to the top of the American and European charts in 1991. Twenty years later, it is still among the 50 highest-selling records in music history.
In 2010 the band released “Sting In The Tail”. Its success prompted a special edition with several extra tracks, including a duet with Tarja, the ex-vocalist from Nightwish. In 2011, guitarist Rudolf Schenker’s biography was published in Portugal, with a preface by acclaimed Brazilian author, Paulo Coelho. In November of the same year, the Scorpions surprised one and all with their eighteenth studio album, “Comeblack”. It looked like a play on the word ‘comeback’, leaving their fans asking themselves if the Scorpions were back. They are – on 10th March 2014.
